DACS, the Distributed Access Control System, is a
flexible role-based access control system,
comprising a set of authentication methods, an
Apache 2 module and suite of CGI programs, and a
single sign-on system, oriented towards
controlling access to Web service requests. It
also includes a C/C++ toolkit for building new
authentication and access control functionality
into programs. It can help manage access to Web
resources in many situations, whether on just one
Web server, several Web servers at one site, or
many Web servers spread across the Internet.
Changes:
This release has support for LDAP and Microsoft ADS-based authentication, improved man pages, and minor bugfixes. It has new and renamed DACS expression functions, including LDAP name parsing. If -v and --version are given, it will also print module version stamps. An initial version of WWW-Authenticate/Authorization header handling has been added (ACS can respond with or accept RFC 2617 headers). An "ndbm" storage method has been added (includes gdbm in compatibility mode). Missing C/C++ bit operators for DACS expressions have been added.
